Taylor Swift Cancels Concerts Amid Terrorist Plot
Taylor Swift has cancelled her upcoming concerts in Austria amid threats of terrorism.
As part of her “Eras” world tour, the 34-year-old “Cruel Summer” songstress was scheduled to perform three gigs in Vienna, Austria between 8-10 August.
However, on Wednesday, 7 August, event organiser Barracuda Music posted the following on Instagram:
“With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety. All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days.”
Per reports, two men have been arrested by the Viennese authorities. One of the suspects has been identified as a 19-year-old Austrian citizen, whose home contained chemical substances that may have been linked to the planned attack.
Both suspects are also reportedly linked to the Islamic State, a prominent jihadist organisation, although this has yet to be confirmed.
There has been no update on whether Swift will reschedule her concerts in Vienna.
